I’ve been on birth control novynette ever since I was 17 for cyst in my ovaries I’m 25 now, but the pills seem to have gotten accustom to my body because I my cyst are back and one is slightly big.
My private doctor told me to stay on my birth control and a public doctor told me to try a different brand that she recommended, but the one she recommended is very expensive, she give me 3 months supplies for free.
I was wondering if I can start those and if I don’t like it after the three months go back to the novynette? Is that safe? Can I switch from one brand to another for 3 months then go back to my original brand?

Although oral contraceptives can greatly reduce the formation of ovarian cysts, ovarian cysts may still form during oral contraceptive use. Is there some reason you don't want to take the advice of your private doctor and stay on your current birth control? Switching brands is not likely to shrink an existing cyst. Which might be why your private doctor did not recommend it. Speak to your doctor about your cyst, and about switching brands. It's also a good idea to stick to one doctor (unless you are seeking a 2nd opinion). A woman can switch brands but the question is, do you really need to. A new birth control pill can mean a new period of adjustment and possible side effects. Your doctor can advise you further.

Hi Helena,
I do want to listen to my private doctor he knows my entire medical history, It’s a long story of how I ended up by a public doctor (my parent idea) I asked because the public doctor said that the bc she wants me to try is really good even though she said the one I’m on is good too..
I thought the bc pills would of help shrink the cysts or something and thought that the one she recommended would of done that and she did give me 3 packs of it. But like you said it would pretty much be the same and I don’t want to change my cycle or get anything side effects so I will stay on the one I usually take (novynette) recommended by my private doctor..
