Q:

Swimming while possibly being on my period.

So I’ve been invited to a pool party. That happens to be on the last day of my period. I’m a little afraid of using tampons because of TSS. I’m definitely going to the party and I will swim. My period may already be done because sometimes it ends early but I’m not sure. Should I try tampons?

Hello. Thank you for your message today.

Many women use tampons for swimming. If you still have some light spotting or bleeding, you can use a low absorbancy tampon. Some tampon brands call these "light tampons." These are designed for the lightest flow. When you are not in the pool, (eating or socializing, etc) a panty liner can be used if you feel more comfortable removing the tampon until you resume water activity. It's really what makes you feel comfortable. Have fun!
