Sick on the pill

Hello!

I am on the combined contraceptive pill. I take my daily pill at 9am every morning, and started a new pack last Wednesday (03/04).

Unfortunately, I also had food poisoning that Wednesday night which led to being sick multiple times - I had taken my 9am pill that morning but started to be sick at 7pm and lasted through the night till around 5am. The next morning I felt confident I could keep down medication, so I took my 9am pill as usual with no problems and have continued to do so over the course of this week.

Is there anything else I should do to maximise effectiveness? Is this pack of pills useless now in terms of prevention?

Sorry for the long explanation, just wish to be clear. Thank you!

Guide

Hello again, AD4494!

Thank you for posting.

It seems you have had this issue a few times before. If you are unsure about the effectiveness of the pill in the light of your being sick, use a back-up birth control method for 7 days. You can refer to the information in the two links below as well.
