You are right---you do have a lot of options available to you, in order to preserve and prolong your kidney health.

Stage 3 kidney disease treatment consists of frequent doctor visits (every 3-6 months) to monitor kidney function (as well as monitoring your other health conditions).

What you do between those doctor visits is crucial at this point: diet, exercise, quitting smoking (if you smoke)...these are very important factors in maintaining your kidney health, and slowing progression of disease.

Have you been referred to a Stage 3 CKD Registered Dietitian? If not, please ask for a referral, as your diet is one of the most important lifestyle changes that you have control over...and your statistic regarding "most elderly people that have stage 3 kidney damage/stay at stage 3 and don't progress to further kidney damage" can be true, but it's what you do with your diet and exercise (as well as medications and other treatment options provided to you) that can make this a reality for you!

Please talk with your doctor, and keep us updated!
