Guide

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix that is a medical emergency.  Left untreated an inflamed appendix will eventually burst.  Since you have experienced a perforated appendix back in 2014, you might be a candidate for and appendectomy (removal of appendix), which is the standard treatment  appendicitis.

Are you currently working with your doctor to discuss treatment options?

Appendicitis is less common is those who eat high fiber foods (fresh fruits and vegetables).  So nutrition is always a way to lessen your chances.

To prevent your appendix from bursting, make sure,  if you experience any type of excessive abdominal pain to seek emergency care immediately.

I hope this helps.

Be well,
