Sorry for the TMI, but I am a bit worried as this has been so for the past 2-3 days. I'm 22, and in the past after large bowel movements sometimes I would get pain or stinging in the anus area, but I never went to the doctor to get it checked out as it would disappear after a few days. I always assumed that there were fissures or something.
However the last three days I have had a constant slight pain around the anus area (again sorry for the TMI), especially if I sit in certain positions. I haven't had any particularly difficult or hard BM's recently (I know I do have a problem with constipation at times, but things have been pretty regular recently). I looked in the mirror today with the help of a light and I can see that there is a definite redness around the actual anus. I'm wondering if I should put some antibiotic cream or powder on it, would that help at all? Is this something serious that I should be worried about? Should I see a doctor? I'm about to travel to go back overseas for school on Sunday therefore my time is running out.

You could have the early symptoms of Hemorrhoids or anal fissures. In either case you need to see a doctor before you leave the county. These conditions can worsen if not treated as soon as possible. Traveling may also worsen the condition.
If you try to treat the condition without knowing what it it, you can make it worse. This is why I do not recommend home treatments until you have been diagnosed by a doctor.
