Good day everyone! I have a little concern. Is it normal to have a period while taking pills? I have been on a combined-pills for a couple of years now. Every now and then, I skip period by not taking the sugar pills. This month, I did it. Yesterday, I noticed that my discharge is pinkish. I still have one active pill to take today before starting the sugar pills tomorrow (Saturday). I am just wondering if this pinkish discharge is something I should worry about or is it normal to have a period like bleeding. First time to happen. Any advise is appreciated. Thank you

Thank you for your response, Susan. Should I be concern about pregnancy while on pills? I must admit that there are days that I forget to take the pills on time but never more than 24 hours.

Hello again
The Pill is over 99% reliable when taken around the same time every day. Being late once or twice a month should not cause an issue but it can make ovulation a possibility in some cases. Set an alarm on your phone so take it the same time every month.

It's unusual to spot before the last active pill is taken - that generally happens 1-5 days after.
But some women do spot whilst on the Pill - this may be the case with you. It's not generally seen as serious but if it continues to happen over the next few months, consult with your doctor.
