If something is normal, and suddenly changes (in this case, your period) it could be due to hormonal fluctuations. This can happen due to a chemical imbalance, a change in stress levels, travel, medications or other factors that change our cycle.
Peri-menopause and menopause can also affect/change periods.
If there is a possibility of pregnancy, take a test to rule it out.
If none of the above is applicable, see what happens next month. If your period is very different again, talk to your doctor.
