I'm 33 years old. For the past 2 1/2 years my periods have been messed up. Now it has been almost a year that I have had no period. My last on was Nov 2010. Today is 10/29/2011 and a few weeks ago I had a small amount of clear discharge with what looked like brown old blood coming out. On 10/26/2011 I started bleeding very heavy. Its been 3 days and I'm still bleeding. I have a pap ever year I have an appt for on Nov 4th. I have been getting hot flahes and I can't sleep good at night. I sleep more during the day because I'm always tired. Could I be going through menopause or could it something else?

Hi,
Since you have been bleeding for three days, do you consider this your period? You said you started out bleeding very heavy, and I want to make sure your current bleeding is still not described as "very heavy", as you would want to call your doctor. Very heavy bleeding can be described as soaking through a pad or tampon every hour, and if you do this for more than a day (and you are on day 3), you can become dehydrated easily. Please call your doctor if this is the case. If you are "just" bleeding what you would consider your normal period, you would not need to call your doctor.

Since you have not had a period since November 2010, I assume you have been to your gynecologist? What tests were conducted, and what did your doctor recommend as possible causes for amenorrhea (loss of period) and treatment options?
