Q:

Nearly constant urinary tract infections?

I suffer from a nearly constant UTI (Urinary tract infection). My doctor has told me that it is probably because I have a lot of sex (with one partner) and sex changes the pH of the vagina. She gave me a bunch of things do that would hopefully stop the UTI from coming back, such as urinating right after sex and making sure everything is well lubricated. I've also taken medications, but it only seems to solve the problem for a few days.

However, IT DOES NOT GO AWAY.

Does this happen to anybody else? And if it has, how did you get rid of it? Or am I doomed to have to urinate ever five seconds for the rest of my life?

I've just posted about the benefits Asparagus has had for me. I was suffering with UTI's every month for a year and a half until I started eating Asparagus every day. I've read stories of people with inoperable kidney conditions being cured and/or kidney stones being dissolved from eating it. I know it sounds too good to be true but its helped me and it might help you too. I wish you all the best and hope you feel better soon...

Anon - You need to talk to your child's pediatrician about this to determine the cause and appropriate treatment. Good luck Pat

I'm 18 years old and have been dealing with constant UTI's and ovarian cysts since I was 15 years old (I became sexually active at 17 years old). This year I've had 7 UTI's within the last 6 months, and complex ovarian cysts. I'm getting extremely impatient, aggravated, and depressed because I've been on 9 different antiobiotics (one which gave me a terrible allergic reaction that I had to get a cortizone shot, and another was changed because it gave me moderate hives). The doctors are NOT helping what-so-ever. The antibiotics don't work, have never really worked. I'm not very sexually active, maybe having sex once or twice a week. I wipe from front to back, and I do drink cranberry juice on a regular basis (since I like the taste as well). I cannot work, or go to school because of the constant pain, nausea, and vomitting within the last year especially. I am taking oral contraceptives, the doctors raised the dose and changed the prescription hoping it would help but the side effects were too much for me to handle (vomitting, nausea, diahrea). I was a former anorexic, my lowest weight being 85 lbs at 5'5''. Currently I am 5'5'' at 92 lbs. I have been to 4 different gynecologists and one urologist. My UTI's are always diagnosed at the doctor, which I go to 3-4 times a month. All the doctors do are the same tests without any help. Anyone please give me advice? Thanks!

Thank you so much for replying!
I forgot to mention that right now I do have a vaginal infection as well, which they put me on 500 mg Flagyl twice a day and recently added another antibiotic on top of that for the UTI.

Thanks for the article! I will get a diabetes test since 2 years ago i was diagnosed with hypoglycemia.

You're welcome. Just wanted to mention that if you're concerned about not getting pregnant, and happen to be on the birth control pill, you may want to use a backup method of birth control while you are on the antibiotic.
Let us know if you find anything else out that's helpful. Your experience may help someone else.

After doing a culture, I got a call today saying they found I have a kidney infection as well, so they are giving me a new antibiotic.

Let us know how you're doing after you complete your antibiotics, and if you've gotten any relief. Hopefully you will! Pat
