The other day when I went to the bathroom as i peed I smelled blood very strongly but when i wiped there was only a small drop of blood visible. the next day when I went there was a slight pinkish strips when I wiped, then it stopped for a few days but then suddenly returned yesterday with a slight pinkish look when i wiped. This wasnt every time I went just once per day. No other notable symptoms with it other than two of the times I had pain that felt like the pain that comes with viral gastritis......My urine has also been extremely clear with only the slightest hint of yellow to it. Should I see my doctor or is my period just being weird? I have PCOS which causes my periods to be irregular but they usually start full blast when they do with no spotting before or after.

Hello. Thank you for writing.

If there isn't a flow, it's likely not your period, though but it could be spotting.  Visible blood in the urine is called gross hematuria.  If you feel this bleeding may be coming from your urine, it's important to have it checked by your doctor.  In many instances the cause is harmless, but blood in the urine should never be ignored. In hematuria, your kidneys or other parts of your urinary tract allow blood cells to leak into the urine. Various problems can cause this leakage, including urinary tract infections, kidney infections, a bladder or kidney stone to name a few.
