Q:

My urethra is just weird.

Since childhood, or at least when I starting paying attention during puberty, my vaginal opening has seemed odd. Within the labia, my skin looks torn up and rough. I dismissed it as torn hymen, although the description never seemed to match. I’m realizing now that this torn up skin is actually surrounding (and somewhat hiding) my urethra as wel. It seems unusually close to the vulva, a full inch down from the clitoris. Beyond the Labia, it just looks like a mess of roughed up flesh. The holes are difficult to distinguish. I’ve looked several times and nothing really explains the situation, especially considering it was this way prior to any sexual encounters, UTI’s, etc. I have yet to see a gynecologist. Any ideas?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

This may be the way you are naturally. Female genitalia can look markedly different for each woman. You have not mentioned any pain or discomfort so I assume there is none. But you may have some sort of growth there too - we cannot say what this could be. You will need a gynecological exam to kn\now more.
Best,
Susan
