Hello clarky

Thank you for writing.

Emergency contraception can and often does delay the menstrual cycle due to the large surge in hormones. It is 95% effective against pregnancy if taken with 24 hours of sex. There is no date you can expect it. When delayed by EC, it can take up to a month to get your period.

However, since your period was due on Jan 18th and you had sex on the 30th, it's a good idea to take a pregnancy test to rule it out. A test would be accurate by now. If negative, it may be another week or two before your period comes, due to taking emergency contraception. Take a test now, to rule out pregnancy.

Susan

Hello again

We cannot tell you why your period is late since it was due on Jan 18th. It may be a hormonal imbalance or it may be due to pregnancy if you had unprotected sex in early January or late December.
January 30th is not the 14th day of your cycle if you did not get a period in January.

We cannot tell people their pregnancy risk to the extent you would like. You have to take a pregnancy test. If you called your doctor about this issue, they would also tell you to take a pregnancy test, even if you don't think you could have gotten pregnant in December or January.

Until you rule out pregnancy, we cannot help you. Take a pregnancy test.

Best,
Susan

Hello again

I'm not sure why you can buy emergency contraception and not a pregnancy test but there isn't any more we can tell you. I understand your situation but there isn't more a website can do. We are limited in how much information we can offer based your own personal situation. We cannot tell anyone why they are not getting their period or whether or not they are pregnant.

Best,
Susan
