I'm quite anxious because i've never been late in my life, i'm always early if anything, and i haven't had my period in about forty days. I'm really worried because i hadn't noticed but i weighed myself recently and i've gained a few pounds. I can't be pregnant right? I am a virgin. Thank you!

I'm 18 and missed 2 months but I'm a virgin. Should I be worried?

Hello, Anon.

It's not uncommon to have irregular periods for the first few years of menstruating, and sometimes even longer. Many things can impact your cycle, stress, drastic weight changes, illness, over-exercising, a change in body chemistry or lifestyle, etc. If your period is a no-show for 3 months in a row, visit your GYN. For now, try to relax, your period may still arrive.

Hello.

Take the time to read through the comments and you'll see that period irregularity is not uncommon at your age.  As you mature, your period will regulate; this is usually the case for most (though not all) women. Try to relax, stress will only add to the delay of your period.

Hey!

I'm 16 - soon 17.
I never ever had sex or even a boyfriend (not planning on either of it either).
Sometimes my period was 2 days late but now its been almost a week since it should've started. Nothing.

To note maybe my emotional disaster plays a role ? (Being upset not being able to see someone special to me, parents divorce and one parents new partner moving in) Might that cause me to not get it?
I can't go to a doctor cuz when I tell my mom she won't listen to me and just assume I got raped (it was very late when I was 13 and instead of listening she kept coming to me "you can tell me what happened!" "Tell me if a boy raped you!")

Hello Anon!

You have an irregular cycle - and stress can certainly affect the menstrual cycle on top of it all.

Your mom sounds a bit unstable if she assumes a late period means you were raped.

Your period will be along when it's ready - when you are 18 you can consult a doctor about your irregular cycle. An irregular cycle is not uncommon. You'll be ok.
Best,
Susan

Hi, I'm 13 and I haven't had my period in about a month... I haven't had sex, so surely I can't be pregnant right? I'm quite worried that it's just going to randomly start. Am I okay? Do I need to see a Doctor? I'm really embarrassed and don't want to talk to my friends or parents. What do I do?

it's ok. you don't need to see a doctor. just have pads or tampons with you all the time in your backpack or something.

Hello Anon

You can't be pregnant. The cycle of a 13 year old is generally irregular. Your hormones are just beginning to surge. Your period will be along at some stage. You just have to wait. It happens to a lot of teens.
Best,
Susan
