My period isn't due for two weeks but my uterus is sore and I'm having cramps off and on could I be pregnant or maybe ovulating?

Hi, Anon!!

I would wait a couple of days and take it again. The faint line could mean it's a positive test but that it your body isn't yet producing enough of the pregnancy hormone HCG for the test to make a strong line yet. In two or three more days, if you are pregnant that line should be much stronger.

Good luck!! Please come back and let us know!!

Anon,

There's always a chance of pregnancy with unprotected sex, which is great news for you right now!! But unfortunately, no matter how much we are hoping to become pregnant, we just can't know whether we are until we get around the time of a missed period.

There isn't any correlation between the small amount of cramping and a possible pregnancy, though it is possible that you were ovulating at the time, which would mean it was a great time to have sex!

Are you aware of when you ovulate? Are you having sex every other day around that time?

Yes, Anon, you could be. Most of us ovulate between day 10 and 14 of our cycles. Sperm can live inside the body for about 72 hours; an egg is able to be fertilized for about 24-36 hours. So our actual window of fertility begins about 3-4 days before ovulation and ends about 1-2 days after ovulation.

Are you hoping to become pregnant, Anon?

OK, I am confused here....so I started my period on Sept 26 and I had an IUD in. I started to feel my boobs hurt and other pregnancy symptoms, then I started to bleed a little on Oct. 10th and that lasted about 3 days and on Oct. 15th I got my IUD taken out. My husband and I have sex almost every other day and when I had my IUD taken out, we were not using any protection. Now I am tired ALL the time, my boobs REALLY hurt and 2 days ago I had cramping really bad like I was going to start...but NOTHING. I don't know if the 10th was an actual period or implantation bleeding. So I am confused on when I am supposed to start. My stomach feels so bloated that I can't even sit up straight with my pants being buttoned :( I have taken a test and it was negative......could I be pregnant?

From my understanding of your question, your period may not even be late...correct? Your last period ("withdrawal bleeding", since you were using an IUD) was on September 26th, and you wrote this on October 26th. A pregnancy test taken earlier than this may have been too early, and the results would be in-conclusive.

Your IUD has been removed for only a week-and-a-half, and it can take up to 3 months for your periods to be back to normal and regular...did your doctor discuss this with you?

Are you trying to conceive, as you mentioned you and your husband are having sex every-other day, and it sounds like it is unprotected sex?

Can you tell us more information? If not, here is what I can tell you from your brief description:

Information that would be helpful from you:
- What type of bleeding did you experience on Oct. 10th? Implantation bleeding should actually be called "spotting", as it is merely a spot of blood on toilet paper or underwear, and goes unnoticed by most women. If your bleeding was more substantial, it could have been withdrawal bleeding from the hormones being removed, and your first menstrual period may not occur until 21-35 days after Oct 10th.
- When was the last time you took a home pregnancy test?
- How long had you been using an IUD, and did your doctor talk with you about your periods being irregular for a few months after its removal?

If you took a pregnancy test yesterday, then you can wait another week. No need to take multiple pregnancy tests daily (if that's what you are asking??). Ideally, you may also want to wait to see if you get a period 21-35 days after your October 10th bleeding date.

Your periods may be irregular for a few months (which means your ovulation will be irregular and unpredictable), and this is why I provided the information previously. No one can tell you "when" to take a test, as your periods may be irregular for a while. What you can do: take one test a week if you feel the need to (or wait up to around November 13th for a possible period) and track your symptoms (all of the symptoms you mentioned can be hormone-related...either due to an upcoming period or pregnancy, although it is too early for pregnancy symptoms).

Do you know how to track for symptoms of ovulation, since you are trying to conceive? We can provide this information, if you are interested!

Thank you for the information. On October 10th, it was more that just a spot....but it wasn't enough to have to wear a tampon...just a panty liner. To answer some of your questions... The last time that I took a pregnancy test was on the 25th of OCT and I had the IUD in for 2 years. My Dr. said that I could get pregnant right away and she didn't mention anything about my periods not being regular, but my are NEVER regualr :( And birth controle doesn't help regulate them for me....Ok, so I should wait and see what will happen. The only reason why I think this is because the same thing happend to me when I got pregnant with my daughter, who is now 3! My nipples have been really sore and my breast are just achy :/ And I get REALLLLY bad gas at night, but for some reason it only happens at night. Also I still have dull crampling in my stomach off and on during the day. Thats is just what made me think that I was pregnant. Again, thank you for all of your help!
