i have just come off the pill about a week a go and am mid cycle. I have started break through bleeding and this is my secound day wit it. my question is do you no tipically how long it takes to ovulate after break through bleeding .. or do you have to wait for ur real period?? i guess if i had not been on the pill i would maybe be ovulating now but breakthrough bleeding obviously means i am not. HELP.

Breakthrough bleeding has nothing to do with your ovulation cycle, and is usually experienced more as spotting. I am wondering if you are actually experiencing your menstrual period, since you said this is your second day of bleeding? Is the bleeding more like period-bleeding, or more like spotting or real light bleeding?

When you stop the pill, your cycle "kicks in" where your pills left off, and your hormones will take a few cycles to adjust to regulating themselves. This said, every women is different when she starts ovulating after stopping the pill.

I am not sure why you are saying "HELP", as this does not sound like a crisis question...am I missing something? Did I answer all of your questions?

Yes it is possible to have your period early and it is still your period. If your cycle is on track you should ovulate in a couple of weeks but there is no guarantee of that.

Hi,
Yes, anytime you have unprotected sex, you have a chance of pregnancy. Women do have "fertile windows", but without precise tracking (and this can even be incorrect), most women do not know the exact time they ovulate, although it is on average about 2 weeks before your period begins. However...some women can ovulate earlier or later in their cycle, and this can change cycle-to-cycle.

You will need to wait until your expected period to know if you are pregnant or not. Are you trying to conceive?

My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for the last 2 months. A day after my ovulation is over I tend to get period like cramps. Why is this? I got my period after last month, but I just keep hoping that It is just ovulation and not the egg leaving. Can someoe shed some light in this issue for me?

Hello. I am a 38-year-old mother of four. I just had a baby five months ago and at three months I began giving him mostly formula. I do still breastfeed, but it's mostly through the night. After I stopped breastfeeding regularly, I got my first menses. As expected, it wasn't my usual type of menses - it was short, light, and not painful at all. My typical menses are about 10 days, quite heavy with large clots, and very painful for the first four days. Exactly 28 days later I got my next menses, which was closer to my norm; heavy flow (no clots, though), lasted 9 days, with just little cramping. When trying to have my last son, I began tracking for ovulation and found that my cycles are about evey 28-29 days with ovulation on about day 13-14. I've never missed a period unless pregnant, so I'm quite regular.

On day 10 of my cycle, my husband and I had unprotected intercourse. We're not trying to conceive, but took a chance because if it happens we wouldn't mind ;) At any rate, about five days later I began having uterine pain that I assumed was ovulation pain, except it is not one-sided and it is still present today. I am now on about day 17-18 into my cycle and my entire uterus hurts/aches intermittently. It sometimes feels like it is contracting. I have what's called a heart shaped uterus (or septation) and I always contract a lot throughout my pregnancies, so I am quite familiar with uterine contractions and what they feel like.

I know pregnancy is possible, although chances are slim, but I do not think this is what's going on. Could this possibly be a symptom of uterine cancer or some other GYN issue? I will not visit my GYN until pregnancy is completely ruled out. Unfortunately, it took two miscarriages and a year for us to have our newest son (I have four now; never miscarried until I turned 36 and OB thought that to be the reason, but turns I have protein C deficiency and just got lucky with my first three sons), and with all three recent pregnancies I was able to get a positive pregnancy test on day 22-23 of my cycle, so I will wait until a week after that to go see my doctor.

In the meantime, do you have any ideas? I apologize for the length of this...just wanted to give as much info as possible. Your help is greatly appreciated!
