Q:

My period isn't due for two weeks but my uterus is sore and I'm having cramps off and on could I be pregnant or maybe ovulating?

I had sex exactly six days after my period, my period had come on time afterwards. My menstrual cycle had been normal and my period lasted for a full seven days (the normal amount of time. I assumed I was in the clear zone (wasn't pregnant) since I had had my period when it was due but I believe I'm a few days late. After my period I had gotten sick and have been lately battling with an extreme case of insomnia so I started taking nyquil almost every night for about a week straight so I am not sure if this may contribute to a late period. I have been a little mood lately and have felt very fat and bloated in my stomach (I usually get these symptoms before my period). So could I be pregnant or is my period just late due to stress. I'm hoping I'm not since I had a normal period.

Hi Anonymous,
You will have to wait until you miss a period to take a pregnancy test. You still have over two weeks before you are technically missing a period and possibly pregnant. I know the waiting can be the worst part sometimes. I hope this helps..

Good luck,
Missie

Hi I have all these posts and well I had my iud removed about a week and a half ago and I have been having sex without any sort of protection my last period was on the 23rd of march 2011 and I have been feeling weird. Soon after they removed my iud I started bleeding for about 4 days then I stopped 3 days later I had spotting again but it was sort of brown I would like to know more information about this....

HOW SOON CAN I TAKE A PREGNANCY TEST???

Hi Anon,

It's only been a week since you started having unprotected sex so it would be way too soon for you have any pregnancy symptoms or to even say that you are pregnant at all. The back pains could be due to something else such as an injury to your muscle, pressure on the nerves, or a herniated disc. If the pain continues, it is probably best for you to visit your doctor so that he or she can properly diagnose you. The most common type of back pain is due to strained muscles.

Good Luck!

Hi Anonymous,
It is not uncommon to have cramps a couple weeks before your period, and to have residual cramping afterward too. If you feel your cramping is excessively painful, call your doctor to rule out ovarian cysts or some other cause.
For more information, please review: How to Know if Your Period is Normal.

So I am on PDO 9 and have been having what it seems to be my period cramps but they dont usually start till the day of. I am so confused I have had them now for 5-6 days and dont know why? I commented a few days ago could this mean I am? I took a hpt and it was negative? Is it to early? I thought for sure it would come out a faint line but nothing? I seem to be having all the symptoms of early pregnancy but I'm not sure! Can you help? I am going to wait till monday to take another one but i am so anxious~

Hi Anonymous,
According to the dates you provided, if you are usually on a 28-day cycle, you should get a positive pregnancy test today, but if you don't you likely are not pregnant. If you don't get your period in the next few days, you can test again. If you don't get your period this week at all, you may be skipping for some reason. You can call your doctor's office, but they likely will wait to see you until you have skipped more than one month in a row.
Hope that makes sense. That website I provided has some great information about TTC, and other topics that may be of some interest. There also is a TTC group here. Check it out!
