Q:

My period isn't due for two weeks but my uterus is sore and I'm having cramps off and on could I be pregnant or maybe ovulating?

Hi,
Having unprotected sex the day before you anticipated ovulating greatly increases the risk that you conceived. Even if you are pregnant, it would be so early in the pregnancy that you would not be having any noticeable symptoms. Indeed, stress can cause a delay in the start of a period. The fatigue, heartburn and cramping may be physical or may be the result of stressing over this matter. Right now, try to relax. Wait to see if you get a period. If you are late by a week, take a home pregnancy test.

I'm a bit confused, I had unprotected sex on the 13th of this month the day before I ovulated, my last period was on the 1st of sept, since having sex I have had cramps like I am due my period but its not due for another 2 weeks! I have had these cramps every day since having sex and I thought it was just ovulation now Im just thinking I might just be imaginig it, but yesterday I slept all day, Ive been so tired and gettin heartburn and drinking loads of milk! sounds daft I know, I dont want to worry too much incase its nothing and me stressing will cause my period not to come.. anyone else know what this could be?

Hi. Im new here. I have been tryin for 6 months now. i have PCOS and have been talking metformin to help for 10 months now. I started my last period July 24. I have 31 day cycles. I always have right knee/leg pains and bad cramps the day before and the day i start my period. My period usually lasts 6-7 days long and its heavy the first 2 days. Well this last period I no cramps at all my period was lighter and last for 4-5 days at the most with the last 2 days being very light brown blood. im on CD 19. On CD 17 I had those knee/leg pains and pains in my right ovary. My husband and I DTD on that day and 2 days before that. On CD 18 I had minor cramps/discomfort in my lower abdomen right above my pubic bone. I have noticed that Im getting more headaches and dizzier than normal. Now CD 19 I still have some discomfort in my lower abdomen like its tender/a little sore. Did I have the signs of ovulation and what could be going on now? P.S. I never had cramps around the time I ovulate and this feelins in my lower abdomen are unusal.

Hi Austinsmommy,

A 4-5 day period is a normal period. Even for someone who normally had 6-7 day periods, this could sometimes happen and is nothing to be alarmed about. Also, sometimes during ovulation you may feel a slight cramping. What alarms me is that you are getting headaches and dizziness-- dizziness is a serious adverse effect of Metformin and I would strongly suggest that you give your doctor a call right away.

Please keep us posted,
