If you have chronic pain in the balls of your or feet (or foot), you may have developed metatarsalgia. A doctor can diagnose this. You have five long, thin bones that attach to your toes at the ball of the foot. These are your metatarsals. They help make up your forefoot and absorb a lot of force whenever you push off the ground to take a step. Metatarsalgia is the painful inflammation of the metatarsal heads. It can feel like you are walking with a rock in your foot or similar sensation. Having a callus only adds to the discomfort. If it's only a callus causing the issue, a foot doctor (podiatrist) can remove it, and likely permanently, rather than risking infection trying to dig it out yourself.
