My mom is in a nursing home where shingles is going around. She is 93. Would a shingles shot do any good??

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER.

The shingles or herpes zoster vaccine is licensed for use in individuals 50 years and older, but is recommended for adults age 60 years and older.

Speak with your mother's physician if she is a candidate for the vaccine.

Regards,
Maryann
