Hello, Anon. Thank you for writing.

Arthritis in older adults is quite common. Common arthritis symptoms of pain and stiffness are usually caused by degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis). There are various types of arthritis which include rheumatoid arthritis and gout. A diagnosis is necessary in order to develop a treatment plan. Medications, physical therapy, or in some cases surgery helps reduce symptoms and improve quality of life. Once diagnosed, it's important to follow whatever treatment plan your physician has recommended.
