Anon - Extreme anxiety can lead to a panic attack or panic disorder, which is a medical condition. I'm going to provide links to give you more information. If your regular doctor is not assisting you in treating your medical condition and symptoms then you may want to seek a referral to a psychiatrist who has the medical training and clinical skills to help you
Good luck to you!

I have had this off and on my whole life, and had the same monitoring. In my case, I'ved figured out that in crises I perform really well during the emergency or loss or whatever, and about a week or two later I somatize it -- it becomes a physical symptom like anxiety. I think it's like PTSD. I always think I am dying, but I never have, and I am almost 70 now and had this since college.
