Hi, my name is Alexandria. I have been taking Apri birth control. It says 0.15mg/0.03mg. It is a 28 day. I have taken it for two years now and before that i took Yaz. Anyway, i missed my pill at the beginning of the second week which was Friday night so I took it on Saturday morning to make up for it. On Monday and my boyfriend and I started to have sex without a condom but it was only for like 20 seconds and then we realized how stupid it was to do it without a condom. Then Monday night we had sex with a condom that had spermicide on it. Now I'm scared that I could be pregnant though because I missed a pill and because of precum. Help? Should I get the emergency?

I don't think your period stopped for either reason.
The inactive pill has no active hormone in it. It is nothing more than a "sugar" pill. It is in the pack only to keep you on schedule or to remember to take one pill each day.
It is not likely that you are pregnant, so I don't think you experienced implantation bleeding.
Continue to take your birth control pills, one each day and at the same time each day.
You can check with your doctor or wait and see what happens with your period next month.
I take birth control but the Thursday of my last active week I missed it. I took it Friday at 11 am then took normal Friday's pill. I had sex friday and he pulled out unprotected. During my inactive week, I started my period Tuesday afternoon but Wednesday morning my period had stopped. I missed Monday's pill (usually taken at 10 pm) and took it Tuesday at 6:30 am. I also missed Tuesday night so I took Tuesday's pill on Wednesday morning. Did my period stop from abnormal inactive pill taking or was it implantation bleeding?!?!January 25, 2012 - 7:28pm

If you have been taking your birth control pills, daily as directed, then you should be protected. Or, did you not take a pill on the day you had sex? If you did miss an "active" or "hormonal" pill, you did the right thing by taking an active pill the next day and continue to take the pills daily.
i have been taking birth control for about two months now, i had sex one day and took the pill the next day...is there a chance that i can be pregnant?June 27, 2011 - 3:50pm
Thank you so much! I'm just stressing out because I'm not supposed to start until July 4 so it's a long time to wait.June 23, 2010 - 1:55pm
And waiting is the worst! I know. Especially when we let our minds go all crazy with "what-ifs." We start being hyper-alert to ANY possible symptom in our bodies and think "oh no, is that a sign of pregnancy?" And as the expected date of our period gets closer, we fret even more.
Try not to do this. You did do everything right. Your protection would not have been interrupted. And all that stress can affect your hormones all on its own.
You're very welcome! We're glad you found us at EmpowHER.June 24, 2010 - 9:35am
While there's always a small chance of pregnancy, in this case it seems like you are safe. You did exactly what you should have -- took your pill as soon as you remembered it -- and you took it the next day. That should mean that your protection from the pill was uninterrupted. So in fact, you were never completely unprotected.
Kudos to you for using both the pill and a backup method of birth control and protection. You deserve a pat on the back! I don't think you need to worry much about this episode. You did everything right.
Does that help?June 23, 2010 - 9:53am
