Q:

Missed period after Postinor 2 twice in 3 weeks

Experienced bleeding 6 days after taking postinor2 and it coincided with my period due date. Also took it 3 weeks later and experienced bleeding 9 days later and it started 2 days before my period. Both bleeds seemed normal. I haven't seen my period this month and I'm 3 days past the due date. Should I be afraid of the drugs affecting my womb? Were those bleeds actu ally my period or breakthrough bleeds? Thanks for your help.

Hello press,

I see that you have expressed this concern in two separate posts and received replies from two moderators.

An emergency contraceptive is intended for use only in an emergency situation, such as the condom broke, and should never be taken more than one in a one month period.

You have seriously upset the hormonal balance that regulates your menstrual cycle. That is why you have not gotten a period yet for December.

Postinor 2 prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. Most likely the first bleeding was your period as might have been the second bleeding.

press, please do not take an emergency contraceptive pill again until you have been seen by your gynecologist or primary care physician. You need to use some type of birth control regularly. Discuss available options with your doctor.

Regards,
Maryann
