Hi! So I got the Mirena IUD inserted on the fourth day of my period being wednesday of last week (July 25th). I then had unprotected sex and my partner finished in me (July 31st). I just want to make sure that it is effective since I had it inserted in the first 7 days of my period? I’m just a little paranoid tbh haha any help would be appreciated!!

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing!

Merena is more than 99% effective. As long as it is inserted the first 7 days of your cycle (period) then it's effective. You should be just fine.
Best,
Susan
