I had a 2 to 2 1/2 day period of nothing but blood clots, large blood clots, also some small ones. Lots of cramping and just uncomfortable feeling for a week before and even still now a week and 2 days later. I have had severe breast tenderness, fullness in my breast, extreme fatigue, headache, nauseated especially in the late afternoon early evening. Today, I all the sudden had some very light spotting. It was very light. I still just have the cramping from time to time throughout the day. I am also very very irritable, more than normal. I feel like I have had pms for a month. It comes along with lower back and leg pain if that helps anyone to recognize what this may be. Do I need to contact my dr, or just continue to deal with it until I become "normal for me" again? Any advise or same experience information would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same symptoms. I am not using any birth control means. Since beginning of July I am feeling uncomfortable..had nausea , headach, vomiting, etc. I missed my period..but...after 6 days it start with brown bleeding and then clots for two days with severe pain in lower abdomen. Now bleeding has stopped abruptlybut pain is still there. Are these sign of pregnancy?

Hi I'm 36,my tubes were tied 6 yrs ago. I just had two and a half days of clotting not on a pad only when using the bathroom. In four days I had only one lightly soiled pad. Now on my third and fourth days there's light pink blood when I wipe. My Dr. Office was closed for the holiday, so I will be calling them tomorrow. Could I be pregnant?. I also had sore breast for the past three weeks and lower back pain.

Hi Anonymous - Yes, anytime you have unprotected sex you can become pregnant, and it is also possible to become pregnant when you have sex during your period. The only way to know for sure if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. Hope that helps, Pam

Hi Tonya,

I am glad you are trying to get in to see your physician, it is important to be evaluated in person.

Any woman who is sexually active who is not using birth control should consider the possibility of pregnancy. A few of your symptoms are common signs of pregnancy (fatigue, breast tenderness and swelling, and nausea).

If you are not pregnant, changes in your menstrual cycle can signal hormonal shifts and often imbalances. Tracking your cycle and other symptoms over the next few months and sharing your findings with your doctor can help you both figure out what is going on.

I'm having the same symptoms accept it's a week and a half earlier than I was suppose to start my cycle and I lasted 2 1/2 days, on top of that my tubes are clamped. Crazy.

I am 29. I am sexually active. I do not use birth control. The bleeding with clots started about 2 days after my normal cycle would have. So it was pretty consistant. Not normally 31 day cycle, normally 28-29 day cycle on target. I do get the pms symptoms usually just very mild and nothing severe. These have been incredibly stressful. My bra's hurt, I swell up so bad by the end of the day. Very irritable with everyday situations, and so tired that I have been in bed by 8pm everynight for 4 days. Usually stay up until about 11pm. Headache almost everyday. My periods are normally fairly normal. I do vary from month to month and I have small clots in the past. I have had no fever and no real abdominal pain, just period like cramps and general "uncomfortable" feeling. My lower abdomen will also swell, but my legs, feet and hands are the worst at swelling. I have tried to leave notes for the nurse at my gyno office to take call back, and I have not gotten any answer.

Hi Tonya,

Thanks for your questions, I would like a bit more information about your situation.

How old are you? Are you sexually active? Do you use birth control? If so, what type? Was the bleeding with clots in place of a normal period or was it at a different time in your cycle? Where are you in your cycle now? Do you normally get PMS symptoms before your period? If so what do you experience? Have you ever had this before? Are your periods regular? Have you had any fever or abdominal pain?
