I've had Erythema Nodosum for more than 10 months and cannot get rid of it- any suggestions?

I switch off between having chronic fatigue and leg welts. Lately, I've had increasing foot pain, welts, and shortness of breath after walking. I've been to pulmonologists, internists, and rheumatologists and no one can provide any useful information (and I've been tested for EVERYTHING). Would love some suggestions on how to get rid of this!

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

Erythema Nodosum is a type of skin inflammation located in the fatty layer of the skin resulting in painful tender lumps/nodules around the knee/leg area. Treatment is initially managed by identifying and treating any underlying condition, along with the skin lesions. Then include anti-inflammatory drugs and Cortisone are prescribed. Colchicine is sometimes used to reduce inflammation.

Treatment must be customized for the particular patient and conditions present. I would suggest working with your doctor on the best course of action.

I hope this helps.

Be well,
~Gillette
