Q:

It's typical that I get a sinus infection about once a yera, and I also have allergies. For the past 2 days, it is very painful when I swallow. The strange thing is, it is not my throat, but it's the area behind my nose. I also have excess saliva.

You may have another sinus infection, if you are experiencing pressure behind your nose (sinus cavity) when you swallow. Seasonal allergies can also effect your sinuses. Have you talked with your doctor about treatment options for your long-term symptoms?

No, I have not yet talked to my ENT physician. I plan to get in contact with him after the holiday weekend. I'm familiar with symptoms of both allergy and sinus infections, and what I am still feeling today seems quite different. I can only describe the feeling behind my nose as if I had a 'hole' behind there and it feels raw...quite strange, indeed...Thank you for your input, Alison.
