Hello and thank you for choosing EmpowHer,
September 19, 2015 - 9:58amThere are several treatments for night blindness depending on the cause. You may have a Vitamin A deficiency, in which case, you would need to take Vitamin A supplements.
It could be caused by a medication you already take in which night blindness is a side effect.
Other causes include cataracts and/or nearsightedness. Cataracts would need to be surgically removed. Prescription glasses can improve nearsightedness.
Non-treatable causes include: birth defects and Retinitis Pigmentosa.
Retinitis Pigmentosa is a genetic disorder where the retina is damaged, causing night blindness. You may also have a loss of peripheral vision and/or a loss of central vision. The loss of central vision occurs only in advanced cases of the disease.
The first step you need to take is to see an Optometrist and determine the cause, then they can proscribe the proper treatment.
