Increased Incontinence After Bladder Sling Surgery

I had bladder sling surgery about a month ago and am actually having worse incontinence than I had before the surgery. I was diagnosed with stress incontinence before the surgery and had to wear a pad for leakage when I coughed or sneezed. Now I am wearing adult diapers because when I move from a sitting to a standing position almost all of the urine in my bladder leaks out. The surgeon performed a urethral injection to add bulking material to help with the incontinence but it has not really helped the situation. I am not sure what the next step should be.

I had a bladder sling surgery 10 days ago and I’m worse than I ever was. The doctor says I just need time however I do not agree. Anyone with any advice I would greatly appreciate it. I am at my wits end!

I had the Bladder sling surgery and my incontinence is worse than ever before. I stand up and Pee. I Have a constant flow when standing or bending over. My doctor says I’m only five weeks postop and it just takes time. I disagree. Did anyone else have the same issue and have any relief he says therapy will help. Once again I don’t see how therapy can help if I cannot control the flow. I had my surgery in West Palm Beach Florida and I’m very disappointed. I wish I had left my prolapse alone and never had the surgery.

Anon,

Recovery and improvement from this kind of surgery can take weeks, and you may still have occasional incontinence thereafter. Give yourself more time. If there is still no improvement, see your doctor.

best,

I had the bladder sling surgery in June 2017. I am way better after the surgery than before. I leak just a little if my bladder is full and I cough. Before the surgery, if I coughed, I would wet myself so badly it would leak through the thickest pads I could find. I would have to go change clothes. I am happy with my surgery.

I just had the Altis sling done. My urologist is One of the best Dr's in my area. It took him time to find the right tension to use. I no long have an issue with Stress incontinence. But urge incontinence is still a problem when my bladder is full. I take Oxybutynin for that and is helping alot. But I will recommend the Altis mini sling done. It's the best put there. I incision in the vagina just under the bladder. That's it. It Altis is made by Colorplay.

I had bladder sling surgery 12/05. Lots of pain across bladder but especially at the inner legs where groin meets inner thigh area. Many trips back to doctor and he didn't have any answers but to get injections from pain management doctor but then refused to refer me. I could not get an appointment with pain management doctor without referral. Out of frustration I just left it alone. After almost a year the pain subsides and leaks became almost i existent.

It's now 05/17. Having more leaks and now it's to the point it's constant. Every time I stand up or bend over urine expels in large amounts and urgency is awful. Thankfully I haven't had issues at night time wetting the bed. I have to find another doctor and get it checked out again. So humiliating. I'll report back after I find a doctor and go to appointment.

I am having the same problem. Incontinence one month post surgery it is much worse. Whenever I'm standing the urine floods out, out of control. Cannot hold anything in. When I sit on toilet nothing much comes out. As soon as I stand up from toilet the dripping/flowing starts before I even have my pants up, completely wetting everything.
At night I wake up soaked, bed pads soaked, sheets soaked. Have to change Depends and Poises three or four times a night. During day, have to change both at least 7 or 8 times. I have to wear Poise pad inside of Depend. Neither is enough alone.
Please advise!
