I am 16, and it hasn't been a year since I started my first period. (November was when I started.) Normally, my period will last about 6 days, with no clots. This time however, I had so much blood clots, and I bleed so badly. At one point, I could even feel when blood came out... On that day, I soaked a pad just getting out of bed, and to the bathroom. The clots were HUGE. About the size of making an okay with your fingers. Now, I'm on my seventh day of my period. I am still bleeding. When I woke up this morning, it seemed like my period was gone, no blood to be found. Later on, I started bleeding again. I haven't told my parents that I started my period, and I am freaking out. Is there something wrong with me?

Hello, Anon! Thank you for posting.
For the first few years after menstruation begins, long cycles or irregular periods are common. In other words, your period might not always be the same each month. Our hormones dictate our periods. An occasional heavy period with clots is usually nothing to worry about. It's normal to feel scared if this is the first time you have experienced this. Is the bleeding still heavy? If so and you are still concerned, you should see a doctor. Otherwise, try to relax if it seems to be winding down. Is there some reason you have not told your parents or at least your mother you have your period?
