I'm sorry to hear that your doctor did not give you this information which he/she should have done.
Hydronephrosis is not a disease in and of itself but is caused by a blockage in one of the ureters; this is the tube connecting the kidneys to the bladder. The blockage can be created from kidney stones, scarring, blood clots, or acute unilateral obstructive uropathy.
The cause for the Hydronephrosis will determine the treatment. You will need to see your doctor to determine the cause and discuss the best treatment.
