Q:

i recently just found out that I am pregnant. my partner has cml leukemia and has been on sprycel for almost 2 years. i have tried doing research about whether or not there were known complications during a pregnancy such as ours.

my boyfriend said that having a baby while he is on spyrcel is dangerous to the child and can cause fetal harm. the information i read had said that with him taking the sprycel it would not be harmful for me to carry a child and there have been reports of women giving birth to healthy babies while their partners were on similiar medication for cml leukemia.

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  You need to discuss any concerns you might have over any medication or condition with your OBGYN and his Oncologist, if you are trying to conceive. Hope this was helpful?

Best,

Daisy
