I have a strange type of acne that seems almost incurable. HELP PLEASE!

So here is my problem...I am biracial and have very very pale skin that tends to break out atleast once a week.

The acne I can almost deal with, its the post-acne marks that drive me insane. Because I am of color, I am more prone to hyperpigmentation..and the stuff WILL NOT fade. so i put more make up on to cover it, which leads to more acne..which leads to more dark spots. its a never ending cycle.

I have been to the dermatologist over and over. They say first to deal with the acne, then the scars. I'm currently on my fifth or sixth try at a cream and pill combination. It only makes my skin very red and irritated. Of course this is what the creams are meant to do, to get the skin to peel. But with each layer that comes off, the dark spots seem to get worse.

I am not sure how much more of this I can deal with. Not only is it embarrasing, IT HURTS!!! I have tried proactiv and everything under the sun for the zits...but I think I can deal with one or two a week. But the dark spots are killing me...I've tried every product with hyrdroquinone(I know it's supposedly dangerous...so I use it in small amounts) and other various "bleaching" products.

I just want skin that is managable. I will settle for imperfect skin, but the way my face looks now makes me want to never leave the house. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!

Sorry, I couldn't finish my comment from the last one. Most people with a skin condition like yours and my sons, scar really easily. Is this not true of you? Wear sun screen at all times in summer (broad spectrum and natural from a heallth food store which is more likely to use oils and shea butter's in the sun screen and wi t dry and damage your skin more. Do not use detergents and crappy beauty products...will only dry skin more and scar skin. Use soaps like black oil soap....one awesome dermatologist is Dr. Abdomen Qureshi (sp?). HE is familiar with cases like yours. He is in MA but may have connections where you are.

Please DO NOT put lemon juice nor tooth paste on your skin!!! My children are also biracial...one has echzema and those little white bumps...usually due to allergies that cause echzema. See a Natra path to see what foods you are sensitive too. Most people with echezma are suppose to stay away from lemons and citrus fruits.are a symptom of echezema and some types of biracial skin. The best you can do is change your diet to a echezma free diet and keep your skin Hydrated with natural oils. Raw shea butter, nothing added, is best. If you don't have this order it. Use olive oil or coconut oil until ypu youHohe/nloh

Use fresh lemon juice. Wash your face with regular dove bar soap, this removes ALL makeup rinses off well, its dermatalogically tested....then after you wash, apply the fresh lemon juice on your face with a cottonball. It will burn and sting for a bit but eventually your skin will get used to it. The vitamin c in the juice clears the dark spots quickly and within a couple weeks heals the acne. I'm bi racial too and these methods are better because there's no harsh chemicals and its as natural as you can get. Good luck!

I had the same problem. I found two things to help me. One is PanOxyl. It works with the cyst you are describing. It is a type of acne but harder to deal with. Then get yourself on a regimen of BIOTIN. I take 1000 mg a day. It is cheap and can be found at any store like Wally world or CVS, etc. The PanOxyl will help the bumps and the Biotin will work on the scars gradually, for me it was six months. I have maybe one or two small-tiny scars compare to this time last year when I had one side of my face covered in scars. Please try it.

For anyone who reads this:
Whatever your skin condition is if it doesnt cure itself, please...please go and see a dermatologist and a skin-therapist, both of them. I never had a problem with my skin until I was 21 years old. I still don't know why it happened (my "acne invasion"). But my boyfriend at the time, with the best intentions tried to help me by sqeezing them out wotch left me ith big scars. Please don't do this to yourself. Get professional help. Even if it doesn't help you instantly, they will kno not to scar you!

Anon- Thanks for your comment. This is an old remedy that has been around forever, and many say that it does work. It is recommended though that people who do this apply the tootpaste, wait for it to dry, and then remove it after about 10 minutes. The ingredients in some types of toothpaste can cause burns to the skin if it is left on overnight.

hi my name is Erika and i also have bad acne. i recently found a home remedy thats working for me. " Toothpaste" i know it sounds funny but it works almost over night. when you see a pimple coming up dont pop it put a dot of toothpast "a kind with baking soda not the gel kind" on it and leave it on over night. the pimple will be half the size in the morning.

miscortes,
thanks so much for your comment! i really appreicate your help...

but as far as the doctors, I have been to every dermatologist in town and my own regular doctor. I think genetics, like you said has alot to do with it..my dad still suffers with it somewhat. As far as hormones are concerned, I tried several different birth controls to try see if maybe my hormones were just out of wack.

Another problem I forgot to mention, is that once the acne is clear...I don't want to have to continue to use the creams that make my skin peel so badly..isn't there a way to keep the zits off without using harsh creams that dry it out and make it red?

The IPL is something that I have never heard of..but I'm most def. going to look into that one!!! I like the idea of not having to have a peel or have my face red for a few days to get rid of the hyperpigmentation. None of the dermatologists have mentioned this option...so thankyou so much for informing me about it.

My skin is in the process of a major peel right now from a cream I am using..but as soon as it's acne-free and ready to go, I'm going to try something new for the scars.
