Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community for help with your problem.

Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels of the rectum. The hemorrhoidal veins are located in the lowest area of the rectum and the anus.

Internal hemorrhoids lie far enough inside the rectum that you can't see or feel them. They don't usually hurt because there are few pain-sensing nerves in the rectum. Bleeding may be the only sign they're there.

External hemorrhoids lie within the anus. They're usually painful. If they move, or prolapse, to the outside (usually when you have a bowel movement), you can see and feel it.

Hemorrhoids can cause deep pain with intercourse and occurs with deep penetration and may be more pronounced with certain positions.

Anonymous, have you tried changing positions during intercourse?

You can try being on top of your partner during sex. Women usually have more control in this position, so you may be able to regulate penetration to a depth that feels good to you.

How are you dealing with the hemorrhoids? Do you use over the counter ointments, suppositories or pads that contain witch hazel or hydrocortisone? Do you drink plenty of water each day? Are you getting enough fiber in your diet? Has surgery been suggested?

Regards,
Maryann
