I suffer from heavy bleeding during my period since the last few years ; All tests seem normal.I am 46 years old .. the heavy flow with blood clots does not bother me as much as the fact that a week before the period , I lose immunity in the body and get some kind of an infection,it could be a virus or a stomach infection which is really debilitating and takes longer to heal . I also suffer from acute mood swings during this time and feel weak and lethargic. I have been putting on some weight and feel bloated too . Kindly help me .

I really want to thank you for the reply , Alison. What i really mean is that i get more prone to falling ill or picking up a virus infection ,, it may be a severe throat infection with fever , or it may be a stomach infection, diarrhea etc, a few days before my period is to begin. This is what I mean when i say that I am less immune at this time to fight against infections, than i am normally during other times of the month . I have got various investigations done and they have not revealed anything unusual to be deeply investigated. .I really do not know what to do in this case as i do suffer a lot for the few days , before and during my period.
I would be grateful for any help.Thank you .......:)

There are remedies for heavy menstrual period, and you need to be seen for a medical evaluation, especially if you are having blood clots.

I am happy to provide information about your options for heavy periods, but would need to learn more about your specific symptoms.

I'm not sure what you mean that you "lose immunity a week before" your period, as that would not make sense. You are saying that you have noticed that you are ill with a stomach virus or other infection before every period? Have you gone to the doctor for your infections?

Lastly, what type of acute mood swings are you experiencing, and this is also right before your period begins? Is this during the time you have viruses/infections (and, are these self-diagnosed or are you going to the doctor for each virus or infection?).

Please provide more information, specifically what you have been diagnosed with vs. what is self-diagnosed. What are heavy periods like for you, even though you say this is not of concern..you are concerned about infections and viruses before each period? Please let me know if I am reading your question incorrectly.
