I have now made an appointment with an orthopedic Dr. to discuss the possibility of a femur fracture....I will be bringing your commets and also the site that you sent me too. I'm hoping it is not my femur but it sure hurts....I cannot even imagine the pain if it broke. Wish me luck...the appointment is not until April 5, but things will happen quickly after that, as I am going to ask my Dr. to refer me to the Mayo Clinic. I'll keep you all posted. Can anyone explain to me what a Nuclear bone scan is and what it will show? Thanks, again.

I have had epideral shots as Dr's were thinking that it was a L 4 & 5 compression...but the shots did hot help. I go to a chiropractor and this has not helped. I'm looking for a diagnosis wondering if the orthopedic dr. and the nerologist have missed looking for a stesss fracture because they are looking at my backbone.....I'll be having a physical next week and will bring in the articles...and your comments.
Thx

I am so sorry you have been experiencing this pain for 3 years.

You are asking if you could possibly have a fracture in your femur, but the title of your post says you've had "CAT scans and x-rays...", which leads me to believe that this possibility has already been ruled out?

Have your doctors talked with you about where the pain could be originating, as even though you are experiencing it in your hip/thigh, you could have back or pelvic conditions. It could be bone, muscle, ligaments, tendons, nerves... have any of these been ruled out? I assume you have talked with your doctors about the type of pain (stabbing, sharp, dull, achy, come-and-goes, consistent, only at night/day/morning, only after standing/sitting, etc).

What treatment(s) have you tried for your chronic pain (beyond trying to find a diagnosis)? Are you wanting information on pain management, or are you wanting to know if anyone could have an idea of a possible reason/diagnosis for you?

The pain is level 5 but continuous with no changes better or worse. I took Fosomax since age 40 -55 religiously. Could I have a Femur fracture? The leg has hardly any strength in it. Comments please.
