I have had cancer, resection of the transverse colon. Does this !ake it worse?

I'm not sure what you mean. A colectomy is a surgical procedure in which all or part of the large intestine is resected. The large intestine is the part of the alimentary tract that consists of the cecum, the ascending colon, the transverse colon, the descending colon, the sigmoid colon, and the rectum. A large bowel resection may be necessary to treat conditions such as colon cancer, an intestinal blockage caused by scar tissue or tumors, diverticulitis, which is a disease of the large bowel, and other conditions.
