I have been having cramps for 3 weeks. I had cramps 2 weeks before my period then period with cramps. I just finished my period & still cramps on my left side. The cramps are under my rib cage and above my hip. I bleed for 7 days first light then heavy. The beginning of January I saw my gynecologist and had a well women' s exam& she found nothing abnormal. I take ibuprofen for the pain. What do you think this could be?

Dear Anon,
Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community. I am sorry that you are having this pain on your left side.
Did you discuss cramping with your gynecologist or did the cramps occur after your appointment?
You might want to call your doctor and let her know your symptoms. She might want to do an ultrasound to find out what is causing this lingering pain.
These types of pain can be anything as simple as indigestion to something more serious like appendicitis or ovarian cyst.
Cramping before and during your period is normal, but if the pain worsens and your period is finished, then a call to your doctor is suggested.
Did this help Anon?
Best,
Kristin
