Q:

I had meniscus surgery on my R knee 10 weeks ago. I am VERY active person. The exercise that they said was fine causes chronic pain. I backed off. The pain continues.

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

I understand the annoyance of being active and not being able to be active. I'm on a sports ban myself until January and it feels like forever away.

Did you get physical therapy at all? A physical therapist can work with you at your pace and correct any bad positioning in your exercise regime.
To be in such pain at 10 weeks post-surgery warrants a call to your doctor.
