At age 52 the doctor put me back on a low dose patch for hot flashes, after reading information on the side affects I decided not to do after about 1 year. Question the Doctor has insisted that I do the low dose patch again to help with hot flashes and he told me it could save my life by reducing the chances of a heart attack?? This is different than other information that I read about doing estrogen, I/m now sixty. Should I continue this low dose I have been doing 3 months hot flashes have stopped but i'm concerned about health.

Hi, Anon.

Thank you for your post.

This is something you need to decide for yourself. I can't make that kind of decision for you. I would advise discussing your concerns with your doctor (again). The benefits might outweigh the risks (in your case). Remember that every woman and every case is different. What is recommended for you might not be for someone else. You can always get a second opinion as well before deciding.
