Q:

I am 69, had a partial hyster. and now have a cystocele. Having pain in my abdomen. Dr tried several pessaries, all too big. Trouble inserting, pain when inserted, horrible vacuum cleaner sucking out my insides. He said he couldn't get one to fit.

The pain was unreal while he was inserting and trying to remove it. He tried the smallest ones. What are my other options other than surgery. I am having pain.

Hello Duden123

Thank you for writing.

For the benefit of our readers, cystocele is also commonly known as bladder prolapsed or fallen bladder.

Natural treatments include Kegel exercises consist of a conscious effort to ‘squeeze’ the pelvic muscles. It should feel like you were trying to prevent urination. Each ‘squeeze’ (contraction) of the muscles should be held for 10 seconds, and then relaxed. Repeat a total of ten times for each exercise period. The entire routine should be repeated four times per day.

I know you don't want to have surgery but it may become necessary. The is called anterior vaginal wall repair surgery.

This type of surgery is also known as :

• A/P repair
• Vaginal wall repair
• Anterior and/or posterior vaginal wall repair
• Colporrhaphy or repair of vaginal wall
• Cystocele repair

Best,
Susan
