Five months ago I had a total thyroidectomy, and am currently on 150mg of thyroxin, and am still not feeling well. I have most of my adult life suffered with constipation, but since having the operation it is now CHRONIC constipation, I also have ear infections, skin infections around the vulva area, very dry skin elsewhere, an extremely itchy scalp, not dandruff, and have put on 10kg - 22lbs in weight in 8months. I am wondering if all these issues I am suffering are related to a yeast overgrowth, which has caused the hypothyroidism, I had a multi nodular goitre which was the reason for the thyroidectomy, and right up until I had the operation my blood tests were registering as NORMAL, and yet I felt absolutely so very ill just weeks before the operation, how could that be.
