I hope to understand the mechanics of the generation of 'pain'. And, what are the biological difference between a pain at scale rating 3.0 versus 9.0?

This is a very indepth and broad question.
Pain can be categorized in many ways, from chronic (long term) to acute (sudden/non permanent) to sharp pain, dull pain, throbbing pain or one could have joint pain, bone pain, muscular pain, tissue pain etc.
Pain scales are fairly simple - is your pain hardly noticeable, tolerable, intense or excruciating...
May I ask what direction you are going with your research? Are you conducting a study or research paper?

I am a TN victim suffering with various level of pain, I am trying to get a better understanding of pain and the biological anatomy of pain generation and relationship of severity of pain level to the damaged myelin sheath at the root level.
I am not conducting any research study except wanting to know better in how to deal with my chronic pain. Hope you can shed more light on the subject, thanks.

For the benefit of our readers, trigeminal neuralgia is a dysfunction of the trigeminal nerve (the fifth cranial nerve in the brain), characterized by severe shooting, burning and stabbing pain in the face. Areas affected include the forehead, eyes, cheeks and jaw. The pain comes and goes in bouts and is usually very bad when it occurs.
