I went to the dr last week because i thought i had a yeast infection...turns out i have trichomoniasis .... my bf and i have been together 6 months... we work together and live together... i inow he hasnt cheated and neither have i...he was tested today and his test came back negative...how is that possible? I know my ex husband cheated on me..he could have possibly given it to me...but why wouldnt my bf have it? I am really confused..

Thank you....i start my treatment tomorrow. ..but its 10 days..they just tested him today....they lso sent it off to a lab and said they would call with results.....

You are welcome. I am glad you can start your treatment right away. The length of treatment for trich seems to vary, but 10 days is a welcome trade-off for better health!

Welcome to EmpowHer! Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Fortunately, Trichomoniasis is one of the most common STD’s and is easily curable. Nonsexual infection is very rare. Many men infected with Trichomoniasis are asymptomatic. But, up to half of all women exhibit symptoms within 6 months. If you were having unprotected sex with your unfaithful ex just before you began your new relationship, it is possible you were infected by your ex. What is most important is getting the treatment you need and making sure that your boyfriend remains negative. Since treatment is inexpensive and brief (often just a 1 day course of antibiotics), it would be wise for your boyfriend to receive treatment too. Better to be safe than sorry.
