What doesn't my OBGYN know anything about hormones?
There seems to be very little experts out there that know anything about this.
WHY?
Does anyone know?

What type of deficiency did you have?

I share the same frustration. I asked my doctor to check my hormones and they looked confused. When I finally got someone to check my hormone levels, it turned out I had a hormone deficiency.

Dear Anon, this is a very important question and many women now have access to better information to health issues from reliable sites regarding their health needs. I am not surprised to read postings like yours. Many doctors spend time learning about Hormone Replacement to meet the needs of their patients, but few understand the link with other body systems. For example a GYN doctor may not have sufficient training in Endocrinology and as such, he/she will lack a better understanding of patients like you when the time comes to evaluate hormonal levels or diagnosed root causes of hormonal defficiencies. I suggest seeking a second opinion preferably from an Endocrinologist if you are not satisfied with your doctor's knowledge.
I think Todd's suggestion to watch the video is a great one too. Our EmpowHer family has the opportunity to become well-versed on health issues and can make better decisions about their health as a result.
