Greetings,
I am new to this site. I had the heroption cryoablation procedure done in June of 2005. For the first couple of years my periods were very light and short. I was able to use panty liners and lite tampons for the 3-4 day time frame. I was thrilled. However, within the last year, my cycle is changing. I have had cycles that the lite tampon is not enough. At the moment I am on my 16th day of flow. This is weird.
The recent shift to regular tampons is better than the super plus tampons and maxi pad backups I had to use prior to the surgery. I am just worried that I am on a road that will lead me back to that state. I do not want to go there.
Yes, I have a call into my gyn and am waiting for a return call.
Any one out there who this far into their post-procedure experience that can give some insight?

Today is 12 days after my procedure . My dr put me on loloestrogen for two months i had my period for 14days on my first pack of pills. Went i went into to do the procedure my dr was happy to hear. After the surgery. I had bad cramps . Stayed home three days needed more. I had heavy watery discharge two days then pantyliners for the next ten days cramping here and there i took aleeve. Had cramps yesterday my period came . Felt like i peed on myself.wore one pad yesterday . All nite no bleeding took a nap today after some cramps woke up had to change my pantyliner to pads . Wish me luck i have my two week check up this tuesday today is sunday..........

May 18, 2012 - 5:31pmHello,I had the poocedure on April 13....just five weeks ago....I still have a waterly discharge mixed with blood. From time to time i still get some cramping. ...i am wondering when it will all go away...did any one had the same....I feel like its not going to stop....its going to be 6 weeks next week.

Hello, I had the procedure on Aug 19th. The first night was pretty much pain free. Last night..not so much. Now this morning, I'm able to be up and moving around. I'm having the watery discharge that was explained by my Dr. I can't wait to see the end results (after the 6 mos) hopefully this procedure will turn out great. I'll keep you posted. I'm enjoying this site! Thanks

i had the surgery on june 23, i had light bleeding for maybe 2 days then i went to the watery discharge, it has gotten better but the cramps can sometimes be unbearable. i have not had my first perod yet even-though it is pass due, its not that i miss it but i dont like the waiting game.

Norma, I had the cryoablation done in December 09 and was very crampy for about 2 weeks afterwards. Luckily I was off from work and spent several days in bed. I did wind up getting my period and did not get a lot of relief from the procedure, but I know people who have. I just responded because I was in the dark and did not expect the cramping. It gets better though my periods have not :( Good luck with your journey.

Hayellen, I really feel for you. A couple of years ago when I was about 41, my periods were nightmares with really heavy bleeding to the point where I would wake up in the middle of the night and think I was hemorrhaging. It turned out I was simply in the throes of perimenopause and my hormones were out of whack. This is so common. I was given a few options by my gynecologist, including going on the birth control pill, having an ablation, or having a hysterectomy. I chose the pill since it was the most conservative way to go, to see if that had any effect. Sure enough, like magic, after only a month, my periods shortened and the heavy bleeding went away. I felt like I was a teenager again. I've continued with the pill (Yaz), and absolutely love it. My hormones are stabilized and my mood swings are non-existent. I've heard that a lot of perimenopausal women go on the pill to get through these years until menopause.
In any case, if your doctor brings up hysterectomy, I'd look into checking your hormone levels first, as they most likely are the root of the problem. I always believe in getting to the root of the problem instead of just dealing with the symptoms, which sometimes doesn't fly well with those doctors who are more accustomed to simply making the symptoms go away, but it makes more sense in the long run.

When the heavy period problems started 7 years ago, I tried 2 different kinds of birth control pills and both failed. I also had 2 dnc's in less than a year. My GYN threatened me with a hysterectomy and I said no. That is when I found the HerOption cryoablation on my own at another clinic an hour away.
Now it looks like I may be in for another surgery. Hopefully it will not have to be a hysterectomy at this point. But if it is, I will have to deal with that. I think,now, I am more open to it than I was before.
I am making an appointment for some tests.
