Help! I keep peeing my pants and it's driving me crazy!

I just found this website tonight while searching the internet for information on a really embarrassing problem I've started having recently. I really hope someone here can help me. Lately, like in the last month or so, I've started to leak pee. Sometimes it happens when I sneeze really hard and sometimes when something is really funny and I laugh a lot, but just the other day it happened when I was walking for a long time and felt tired. It's not a super huge amount of pee but it's enough to make a wet spot on my shorts so I've been wearing a maxipad just in case. I had really large babies and I had a friend tell me that's probably why I'm doing this but they are older now so I'm not sure why this is happening now. I am 44 years old an otherwise healthy. I was looking this up tonight online because I'm trying to find some articles to read and maybe some people who have dealt with this who can give me advice. Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you Alysia K for the reply and the reassurance that I'm not dealing with anything super uncommon. And the articles and things you listed above were really interesting. I'm going to talk to my doctor like you said. I have an appointment next Wednesday and now I feel like I'll be able to talk about this problem with some knowledge behind me, all thanks to you!

Hi, Anon:

We're glad you found us!

Urinary incontinence is not limited to menopausal or elderly women, so you're not alone. But, it is very embarrassing to talk about, even with our doctors. So, like you, some of us resort to "self management" by wearing pantiliners or microfiber underwear, or by carrying feminine wipes or powder.

The good news is that there are treatment options, everything from certain exercises to surgical procedures. It will take a discussion with your doctor, though, to find the best solution for you. Meanwhile...
