Q:

Has anyone had "her Option" cryo ablation procedure done for heavy bleeding, pms, cramps. I had it done four days ago and my doctor said to expect a watery discharge for about 3 weeks. I have extremely heavy bleeding and severe cramps. Is this normal?

I had the procedure done in February of this year. I cannot say how well it has work for me because it will take 3 months I was told to find out how well it will work. I will say that last months period was better than previous ones. I was given pills to open my cervix the night before. Make sure to take some type of pain reliever before you take those pills. That will cut out most of the cramping. I hate the speculums, so for me that was the worst part for me. Make sure you have a full bladder before hand. Procedure takes about 20 minutes. There is cramping but I felt it was not that bad considering what you are having bad. Plus, if you continue taking Aleve or Advil from the night before it will take edge off and you will have a head start on pain. Besides the speculum the only real pain I felt was at the end when the internal ultrasound was inserted. And it was more because of being sore, and it was a few seconds. When you go home continue pain meds. I got up and did things that day, and, then the next day just went back to normal activities. I did have discharge and thought to myself will this ever stop and it finally did. I know everyone had different pain tolerance, but, in all sincerity this is not a bad procedure. I can see where your nerves would get the best of you and make it worse. That began happening to me while I waited for my bladder to get full sitting on the exam table. But if it helps you it is worth it. Good luck to all you ladies :)

I had the Cryo-Ablation done today; I was most nervous about the procedure itself because it seems the only things I could find on the internet were people who did not see the results they were hoping for.
Despite my nerves, the procedure was not as bad as I was afraid it would be. Crampy at times, but I have a fantastic doctor and she talked with me through the whole procedure which made it fly by. Before I knew it we were done, and I was on my way home with my Vicodin prescription.
The discharge is there, and the cramps are here too. It's nothing I can't handle, though, and I am remaining optimistic that any improvement at this point will be like Christmas. I've been dealing with 12-14 day, very heavy periods.
Sofar, would definitely recommend the Cryo-Ablation.

Would you still recommend the cryoablation. I had it done a year ago and have been bleeding EVERY day since. Some times still heavy. I big disappointment...

I would recommend the cryo ablation but I would definitely tell women that it may work as well as it may not work. And even if it works it may get a lot worse before it gets better. I am reaping the benefits now but I went thru months of hell before I got to where I am now.

Maybe it's too early to post a comment, but I had the procedure done today, April 5, 2012. Four hours later, I'm doing better than anticipated. I have very little bleeding and no cramping. Immediately after the procedure, I had severe cramping and was given 1 800mg Ibuprofen and approximately 15 minutes later the cramps were gone. I don't know how the coming days will be, but if today is any indication, then they will be good days. So far I'm pain free, feels normal and have very little bleeding.

I had the procedure done. The recovery after it was discusting. I was at a store and water started to run out of me as though my water had just broken. I still get heavy periods and they last 10 days.

I had this procedure done 13 days ago and am surprised at how terrible my bleeding is. The pain has been minimal but I have not been able to even leave my house for the past two days due to increased bleeding and blood clots. My doctor has had to prescribe me a prescription to decrease blood flow. I think I made a huge mistake by having this procedure done. By reading prior comments on this site, I will probably end up with a hysterectomy after all.

I Got this procedure done on 02/16/2012. They were suppose to send me some information about the procedure beforehand so I called them and told them I never received it and they apologized and said there was a family emergency. When I got to the office they asked if I had a full bladder and I said I knew nothing about that so I feel even though I drank some water my bladder was not full. I have had natural childbirth and a kidney stone so feel my pain tolerance is high but felt this procedure was painful, While the procedure was being done I heard the ultrasound tech tell the doctor he missed a spot and he said he could not get to it because of the ice ball, I asked what did that mean and he said, I would still have periods ( I wonder if it is because I did not have a full bladder) I am still in some pain it is now 02/18/2012 and still bleeding bright red. If this doesn't work I will not do it again I just hope my periods don't get worse I was unaware that with this procedure your fibroids stay. I will let you know about my periods in a couple of months. Thank God I don't have to go to work for 2 more days I just hope the cramping stops

I had the procedure in late 2010 and have had alot continuous period type cramps even when I am not on my period. My doctor thinks I might have some superficial adenomyosis and we are planning the procedure again to see if it will take care of it. It is frustrating as I have to take pain releivers daily also.
