Q:

Had sex with boyfriend. He was impotent, so used extensive fingering to help me climax. Now I have been diagnosed with vulvodynia. I believe he injured my pudendal nerve. Is this possible?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

The potential for vulvodynia to be cause by damage to the pudental nerve is there so it could be possible. Fingering would have to be extremely vigorous to cause this - something that may not even be pleasurable - but all women are different in what could cause trauma to the pelvic area and what may not. An exam by your gynecologist can let you know more.
Best,
Susan
